2017 Concept & Schematic
@Oppenheim Architecture BDC is located in central Miami, where the Jewish population grows. The design goal is to create a multi-use space as a new urban-style model including the Synagogue, Jewish Cultural Center (JCC), and Schools. Besides complex programs, two different zones divide the site. The zoning code allows a maximum of 13 stories on the main road and requires the return of the rest of the open area to the neighbors. On the contrary, security is crucial to Jewish facilities. To respond to diverse issues, the BDC and our team intimately worked together and met with the zoning officials and attorneys. There are three entrances and security points. The programs are organically connected but utilized separately. The facade pattern implies David’s star.
